From  Black & White to Color to Digital...Our Story

Century Color is a family owned business started by Paul and Ann DerBoghosian in 1968. Prior to starting Century Color, Paul was one of four partners in Planet Laboratories, a black & white lab, servicing the greater New England area. With color on the horizon, in 1967, Paul tried to convince his partners to make the transition.

Unable to do so and wanting to be part of the color revolution, Paul partnered with his wife, Ann and on September 9, 1968, in a rented warehouse of 5000 sq. ft. they opened the doors to Century Color Labs. The initial warehouse space was 3 times what they needed but as the lab's reputation spread, the additional space was quickly used. By offering a high quality product and a genuine concern for their customers' needs, the lab continued to grow. In 1980 the need for more space led Century Color to build a 16,000 sq ft. facility about 2 miles from its original location.

In 1983, after serving 4 years on the board of the Association of Professional Color Labs (APCL), Paul was elected as it's 15th president. APCL is an international association and it was a great honor for Paul to serve and give back to an industry that had been so good to his business and family. Twenty-five years after starting the company, Paul and Ann retired in 1993. The company is now run by their two children, Gregory and Carol. Both have been involved in the business since its early years and carry on the commitment to quality & service instilled in them by their parents.

Century Color was started with the express purpose of servicing the wedding & portrait photographers in the state of Connecticut. And, as the company grew, so did it's territory. From Connecticut, it expanded to service photographers throughout the six New England states and now it's customer list includes photographers from all across the country.

Century Color has always had a commitment to being an industry leader. From it's start by embracing the change from black & white to color, Century Color is now a leader in the latest change to digital imaging. The lab has invested heavily in the best scanners, software, and digital printers available. The commitment to keep its customers on the leading edge of technology is the cornerstone on which this company was founded back in 1968---it is the same cornerstone which its customers can expect in the years to come.
